How to Import Contacts for Cold Outreach Campaigns

Your outreach is only as good as your list. Learn how to import CSV contacts, optionally discover emails from public pages, and keep data clean before launching a JacSend campaign.

Cold email campaigns fail when lists are bloated, outdated, or sourced without permission. JacSend keeps list building simple: import your own CSV, add contacts to campaigns, and optionally run URL-based email discovery on public pages you specify.

This guide covers CSV format, plan contact limits, deduplication, URL lookup boundaries, and list hygiene before you activate sends.

CSV import for outreach contacts

Export contacts from your CRM, spreadsheet, or research tool as CSV and import into a JacSend campaign. Include email as the required field; add name, company, and custom columns you want AI drafts to reference.

Plan limits cap total contacts - 25 on Free, 200 on Starter, 1,000 on Pro. Build focused lists within those caps rather than importing everyone you might someday email.

List quality beats list size

Two hundred well-targeted contacts outperform ten thousand random addresses. Filter by role, industry, company size, and trigger events before import. Remove generic inboxes like info@ unless you have a specific reason to pitch there.

  • Verify emails are current and role-relevant
  • Remove duplicates before upload
  • Exclude competitors and existing customers unless intentional
  • Segment different ICPs into separate campaigns
  • Never import purchased lists without lawful basis

Optional URL email lookup

JacSend can fetch public web pages you provide and extract email addresses visible on those pages. Results save to your account only - never shared with other users. Daily limits apply.

You must confirm lawful basis to contact anyone you add. URL lookup is a research accelerator, not permission to spam every address found.

Deduplication and blocklists

JacSend deduplicates contacts within your account to avoid double-sending. When someone replies or declines, mark them on the dashboard - they auto-blocklist from future sequences. Maintain the blocklist for manual opt-outs too.

Organizing contacts into campaigns

Free and Starter plans allow one campaign each; Pro allows up to five. Split campaigns by offer, persona, or geography so AI briefs and copy stay coherent. Each campaign runs its own 4-touch sequence and send queue.

Pre-activation checklist

Before activating: preview AI drafts for several contacts, confirm SMTP is connected, accept campaign consent confirming you may outreach these people, and verify you are within plan send and contact limits.

Frequently asked questions

What columns should my CSV include?
At minimum, email. Name, company, title, and any personalization fields improve AI drafts. Use UTF-8 encoding and standard comma separation.
Does JacSend integrate with Hunter or Apollo?
JacSend MVP focuses on CSV import and optional URL lookup on pages you provide - not third-party enrichment APIs. Export from your research tools into CSV.
Are my contacts visible to other JacSend users?
No. Contacts you upload or find via URL lookup are private to your account.
What are URL lookup daily limits?
Free plans allow up to 8 emails extracted per day; Starter allows 40; Pro allows 100. Limits reset at midnight UTC.
Can I import the same contact into multiple campaigns?
Be cautious - duplicate outreach across campaigns annoys prospects. JacSend deduplicates within your account; prefer one active sequence per contact.
